Scholarship Information

Scholarship Overview

Players whose families may need financial help towards Seashore Soccer League registration fees are encouraged to apply. Scholarships are for the duration of one season of Classic/Academy or one fall or spring recreation season. Applications must be resubmitted for each new season.

This scholarship program will be under the supervision of the SSL Board of Directors. Applications may be reviewed by the Board. Any and all information shared with the Board or Club Staff will be held in the utmost confidence and not shared outside of the club.

As a non-profit organization, the goal of the SSL financial assistance program is to assist low-income families or families with extraordinary temporary circumstances. Additionally, scholarships or discounts may be awarded to families with multiple players. Awards will be made based on the following criteria: 

  • Household Income
  • Families with Single Parents
  • Employment of Both Spouses
  • Extenuating medical or family hardships
  • Families with multiple players 

Proof of Eligibility Requirement:

  • Current Proof of Eligibility for Free or Reduced Lunch Program
  • Current Proof of Eligibility for Temporary Assistance to Needy Families Program (TANF)
  • Current Proof of Eligibility for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) formerly Food Stamps
  • Copy of the previous year Federal Tax Return 1040 Forms (1st Page Only) including all W2's and 1099's Filed by all members of the household. If self-employed, you must provide Schedule-C.

In order to qualify for SSL Financial Assistance, you must register for a program online. During the registration process, you will be presented with several questions that must be answered, as well, you must acknowledge and digitally sign in the space provided. Each of our programs have the step to complete the financial assistance request.

Scholarship Player's Policy on Participation:

Parent's will be required to acknowledge that if their child receives an SSL Scholarship and/or accepts a position on a team, they are also required to support their child in attending practices, games, and clinics associated with participation in the SSL Soccer Program.

Arrangements to do so are the parent's sole responsibility; transportation is not provided by Seashore Soccer League. They furthermore agree to fulfill the obligation of the program by both their child remaining in the program and paying the parent portion of the fees until the end of the program.

In order to be removed from a team/program, written notice must be given to league officials. Any player that receives a scholarship or accepts a position on a team AND that requests to be removed from a team/program, will be required to pay the full amount of the monies granted  or required. Failure to do so will prohibit any scholarship from SSL in the future and/or may affect player's eligibility with NCYSA and play at Seashore Soccer League.

Parent's requesting scholarships will also need to acknowledge that they may be required to volunteer time to the club doing various duties such as, but not limited to;

  • Fundraisers
  • Sponsorship Campaigns
  • Field and Office Support
